Call for Papers

Mothering Canada: Interdisciplinary Voices
Edited by Shawna Geissler, Lynn Loutzenhiser, Jocelyne Praud and Leesa Streifler for ARM-UR

ARM-UR extends this call for papers to all who wish to contribute to this exciting and important interdisciplinary (book) anthology. Mothering Canada is seeking creative non-fiction, personal reflections, scholarly writing, and critical essays, as well as poetry and art, on themes associated with motherhood in Canada in all disciplines.

Topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Becoming Mother: breastfeeding, midwifery, pregnancy, birthing, post partum
  • Being Mother: mothering late in life, single parent, multiple births, childhood illness
  • Supporting Mother: public policy, mothers in academia/work/school, institutional support
  • Empowering Mother: feminism, stay-at-home mothers, supermoms

Submission Guidelines:

  • English or French
  • Typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman, 12
  • All necessary bibliographical information (formatting consistent with discipline)
  • Maximum 20 pages, including references
  • Picture format – digital or hard copy (do not send originals)
  • Deadline: post-marked or e-mailed by 31 August, 2007
